Major General (Retd.) Shubid Ali Bhuiyan was born in Juranpur, Daudkandi Upazilla under the Comilla District of Bangladesh. After finishing his intermediate degree from Comilla Victoria College, he went on to study Islamic Studies at the prominent Dhaka University, in Dhaka. After graduating from Dhaka University, he joined the Pakistan Military Academy. Gen. Bhuiyan was commissioned from the Pakistan Military Academy in 1965 as a proud Bangladeshi officer. In 1971, he revolted against the Pakistani military aggressors and formed a resistance group consisting of local police, Bangladeshi soldiers and freedom fighters. Later he joined the freedom fight under the command of late president Ziaur Rahman and under the leadership of the Father of the Nation, Sheik Mujibor Rahman.
