The Foreign investors' chambers of commerce and industry (FICCI), than known as the Agrabad chamber of commerce was founded in Chittagong , in 1963. In 1987, the Secretariat of The chamber was shifted to Dhaka and assumed its present name. The Foreign investors' chambers of commerce and industry (FICCI), is non-profit making, service oriented, business association, comprising of foreign companies having not less than 50% equity capital owned by foreigners and is designed to serve and represent business interest of its members.

FICCI is affiliated with the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FBCCI) as an "A" class Chamber and maintains communication with the International Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Paris, International Trade Centre (ITC), Geneva and the World Trade Organization (WTO), Geneva.

Foreign Investment has always played a vital role in Bangladesh's overall economic growth. The aim of the FICCI is precisely to usher in technological transformation processes and develop entrepreneurial power houses throughout the country. In short, mobilize the country in such a way that it can compete intensively to attract foreign investment.
