Bangladesh Football Association (BFA) was set up in 1996 and is the governing body / co-ordinating body for football for the Bangladeshi community in the UK. It is an umbrella organisation and represents 46 football teams from all over Greater London. BFA organises football leagues and tournaments for the Bangladeshi community at local, regional and national level. It supports member teams with capacity building to enable them to develop and provide better services to their users.

Amongst its many roles, BFA is committed to challenging the under-representation of Asians in mainstream football via its representative team Sporting Bengal FC. BFA contributes to reports, discussions and meetings organised by the FA and other bodies about Asians in Football.

Many of BFA users are young people from deprived backgrounds and on the margins of society. By organising football leagues and tournaments, BFA keeps many young people engaged, offers positive diversionary activities in their life and supports them to become good citizens.
