Ashar Alo Society is a community based non government registered organization working towards ensuring treatment, care, and support, establish rights, enhance empowerment and greater involvement of people living with or effected by HIV and AIDS (PLHIV) in Bangladesh. Ultimate goal of AAS is to support HIV/AIDS infected and affected people for ensuring their well being, improving quality of life, health care, contribute to HIV prevention and creating a society that is free from stigma and discrimination.

A group of people infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS from all over Bangladesh and those who love them initiated the process of voluntary care and support since 1998 and formulated an organization named Ashar Alo Society (AAS). And in 2000, Ashar Alo Society was formally established as a formal entity of PLHIV under the umbrella of Advocacy Program, CCDB. In 2001 AAS got regional recognition through UNDP Sub-regional project on GIPA. After that AAS never looked back and started working as the first independent self-help group of PLHIV in Bangladesh with the financial and technical support from FHI.
