 | Obaidul Kader sent to jail: Grilling of Tarique continues

Awami League Joint General Secretary Obaidul Kader was sent to jail with one-month detention while the interrogation of BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Tarique Rahman was continuing yesterday.
Former Jamaat MP Gazi Nazrul Islam of Satkhira was also sent to jail earlier on Friday night and Habiganj Municipal Chairman and BNP General Secretary GK Gous shifted to Comilla Central Jail.
The Joint Forces yesterday evening raided the Baridhara residence of AL leader Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya. Neither the AL leader nor his wife or their two sons were available at the house. All of them are wanted.
Besides, a number of offenders, including Jhalakathi Municipal Chairman Abdul Halim Gazi, Pirojpur district BNP leader Raziul Haq, two AL organisers in Narayanganj and two leaders of Chittagong District Bar Associoation (CDBA) Advocate Ibrahim Hossain Chowdhury Babul and Advocate Iftekhar Shamiul Chowdhury, were arrested yesterday.
Meanwhile, although nothing, about his confessions or disclosures, was officially revealed, unconfirmed sources yesterday claimed that Tarique Rahman was being taken face-to-face with his friend and business partner Giasuddin-al-Mamoon for cross-checking of their statements during grilling session.
Awami League (AL) leader Obaidul Kader was produced before the Court of Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka Nani Gopal yesterday afternoon and sent to jail, as public prosecutors opposed his bail prayer.
He was charged with fanning terrorist activities during the recent political confrontations between the two major political alliances that forced the President to declare the state of emergency on January 11 this year.
