 | LankaBangla Securities retains top position, Beximco turnover leader 03 January, 2011
LankaBangla Securities Ltd retained its top position among all the brokerage houses of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) in 2010.
According to DSE sources, apart from LankaBangla Securities, the other top nine brokers in terms of turnover in 2010 on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) were ICB Securities Ltd, Al Arafah Islami Bank Ltd, PFI Securities Ltd, IDLC Securities Ltd, Multi Securities & Services Ltd, Shahjalal Islami Bank Ltd, AB Securities Ltd, CMSL Securities Ltd and BRAC EPL Stock Brokerage Ltd.
Meanwhile, Beximco Ltd also retained its top position on DSE in terms of transactions in 2010 accounting for 4.75 per cent of DSE's total turnover. Titas Gas grabbed the second position with 3.73 per cent contribution in the total turnover of the bourse.
The other top eight companies were LankaBangla Finance, AB Bank Ltd, Grameenphone, Summit Power, People's Leasing, Bextex Ltd, Prime Finance & Investment and Premier Bank Ltd.
Beximco Ltd attracted the investors in 2009 as the company was allowed to issue 1,19,09,840 ordinary shares of Tk. 10.00 each at par in course of amalgamation of Bangladesh Online Ltd with Beximco Ltd.
The company's share price ranged between Tk 289 to Tk 467 in the year against the face value of Tk 10 each.
The other market leaders in terms of turnover in the outgoing year were Southeast Bank, National Bank, DESCO,, Shahjalal Islami Bank, Aftab Auto, Square Pharma, BSRM Steels, One Bank, Power Grid and Beximco Pharmaceuticals.
