The indefinite hartal at Phulbari enforced by the local people backed by the National Committee for the Protection of Oil-Gas, Mineral Resources, Power and Ports passed into the second day yesterday.
Standing on the barricaded Dinajpur-Dhaka highway, the high officials of police and district administration were trying to negotiate with the agitating people till filing of this report last night.
An official of the Phulbari thana said the body of three persons killed on Saturday were handed over to their relatives on Sunday.
The supporters of the National Committee brought out small processions in Phulbari upazila, some 40 kilometres away from Dinajpur Sadar.
At least five people were killed and over 100 injured when RAB, police and BDR men fired on people demonstrating under the banner of the ' National Committee for Protection of Oil-Gas, Mineral Resources, Power and Ports' Saturday at Phulbari in Dinajpur district.
