 | Ericsson showcases 3G/HSPA technology to universities

Teachers and students of different universities thronged into the "Alokito Bangladesh", a 3G/HSPA pilot project initiated by Ericsson Bangladesh Limited in order to showcase how to improve productivity and quality of life in the country with the use of high-speed internet services through 3G/HSPA technology, said a press release.
The pilot demonstrated m-learning through interactive long-distance classes led by remote teachers, while mobile health demonstrated the potential of distance health care in the country, highlighting the potential benefits of bringing basic services to communities that lack them today. Other services included in the pilot are m-surveillance, video calling and entertainment.
A delegation of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) led by Professor Satya Prasad Majumder of the Electrical & Electronic Engineering Department of BUET visited the pilot project along with some faculty members of the BUET.
Prof. Majumder praised the role of Ericsson for pioneering the project, called Alokito Bangladesh (Enlightened Bangladesh). He said this kind of showcase of technology would help particularly technical students to learn more about new technologies.
Another group of students and teachers of Islamic University of Technology (IUT) also visited the demonstration of the 3G/HSPA trial.
