Dhaka stocks posted slight gain amid volatility Tuesday with turnover hitting one-week high despite shortened trading session.
The benchmark DSE General Index (DGEN) inched up by 0.16 per cent and 10.94 points to end at 6,633.46, after hitting highest 6,658.28 and lowest 6,621.97.
The market saw promising start in the morning but went in the red in wee hour for a brief period before closing slightly higher riding in late-rally on Grameenphone, non-banking financial institutions (NBFIs) and insurance issues.
Banks, pharmaceuticals and fuel and power continued to lose their shine on profit taking for the second consecutive session.
The broader DSE All Shares Price Index (DSI) closed at 5,532.54 with a slight gain of 0.13 per cent or 7.31 points. The DSE-20 blue chip index lost 0.28 per cent or 11.07 points to 3,837.22.
