 | Detained Bangladeshi Militant Confesses to Bombings

top Bangladeshi security official says the detained leader of an Islamic militant group has confessed to masterminding a string of bombings across the country that killed more than 25 people last year.
The intelligence chief of the country's elite police force, the Rapid Action Battalion told reporters in Dhaka Friday, Shaikh Abdur Rahman admitted that he organized the August 17 bombings.
Rahman is the leader of the banned Jamayetul Mujahedin Bangladesh group.
He surrendered to police last week, after a 30-hour siege of his hideout in the northeastern city of Sylhet.
The banned group wants strict Islamic laws be implemented in the mostly-Muslim Bangladesh, which has a secular constitution.
