 | BP team meets adviser: Foreign explorers eager to invest in offshore gas 03 July, 2006
Many foreign oil and gas companies have expressed their keen interest to take part in the third round bidding for offshore gas exploration.
Japan, USA and UK based gas exploration companies have already visited Bangladesh and expressed their desire to invest in the offshore gas exploration activities.
A team of British Petroleum Exploration Operating Co Ltd expressed their intention during a meeting with the Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser Mahmudur Rahman yesterday.
Members of the team were Neil Piggott, Manager Exploration Renewal, Exploration and Production Technology, Jonathan Evans, Performance Unit Leader, South Asia Exploration and Soheila Pourreza, Negotiations Manager, South Asia of BP Exploration.
They said Bangladesh has a good prospect of deep-sea gas reserve. Before participating in the third round bidding, the BP would conduct a extensive survey for offshore gas reserves, sources said.
Mahmudur Rahman told The New Nation that BP's interest to invest here proves that the investors have confidence on Bangladesh.
