Bangladesh team will face their stronger opponent India today in their first Group B match of the ICC Cricket World Cup in Trinidad. The match begins at 7.30 PM. (Bangladesh Standard Time). Bangladesh Television will telecast the match live from Queens Park Oval.
After arrival in Caribbean Islands, Bangladesh took part in a Tri-Nation Series. The other teams are: Bermuda and Canada. Bangladesh outplayed Bermuda by eight wickets and then the Tigers beat Canada by 13 runs.
Bangladesh team played two warm-up matches against New Zealand and Scotland. Bangladesh created a surprise when the Tigers beat in-form New Zealand by two wickets. It is noteworthy that New Zealand whitewashed Australia, the powerhouse of world cricket, 3-0 recently.
Later, Bangladesh team maintained their supremacy defeating Scotland by seven wickets. After getting ODI status, Bangladesh earned wins against Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and Australia. Last year Bangladesh whitewashed Zimbabwe, Kenya and Scotland. Tiger showed their consistency as Bangladesh team won 18 matches out of 28 ODIs last year. Besides, Bangladesh showed a glistening performance as the Tiger beat Australia, the reigning champions of ICC Cricket World Cup.
Bangladesh team have been formed with a good combination of experienced cricketers and promising players.
The key batsmen of Bangladesh are Shahriar Nafees, Habibul Bashar, Mohammad Ashraful and Aftab Ahmed. Besides, Bangladesh team have Mashrafee Bin Mortaza, the country's best medium pacer, who picked up 49 wickets in the year of 2006 which is a record as the right-arm pacer was the only bowler who grabbed 49 wickets in a calendar year.
