List of 49 businessmen finalised for CIP status
14th May, 2008

The government has finalised the names of 49 leading businessmen of the country who would be bestowed the Commercially Important Person (CIP) status for a year on the basis of their export performance and annual business turnover.

Ministry of Commerce began issuing letters to those CIPs from Tuesday informing them about their new status for 2007.

The ministry received the final approval of the Chief Adviser's Office (CAO) last week, a senior commerce ministry official said.

The selection process of CIPs takes quite a long time as it needs clearance certificates from different government entities, he said.
