It was first established in 1949 as St. Gregory college at Luxmibazar, Dhaka. In 1955 it was renamed as "Notre Dame College" and relocated to its present location. Most students study in this college in the Intermediate level Science, Business Studies or Arts classes. It also offers three-year Degree program classes leading to a Bachelor Degree of Arts or a Bachelor of Social Sciences.
Although Notre Dame College is administered by the priests of the Congregation of Holy Cross, It is open to students of all religions.
