 | Report Broken URL |  |  | JICA Bangladesh | |  | | |  | More than thirty years cooperation of JICA in Bangladesh could be highlighted in three stages. In the first stage (1970 to mid 80's), JICA extended its cooperation mainly for attaining self sufficiency in food for Bangladesh which just became independent in 1971, although cooperation in other sectors such as infrastructure development and health were also provided. It also supported upgrading agricultural infrastructure and agricultural development including capacity development of organizations such as Central Extension Resource Development Institute (CERDI), Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) and Institute of Postgraduate Studies in Agriculture (IPSA).
