The Department for International Development (DFID) is the part of the UK Government that manages Britain's international aid and works to get rid of extreme poverty. UK Governments policy for poverty reduction is set out in its 1997 and 2000 White Papers on International Development and the 2002 International Development Act.

DFID Programme in Bangladesh
The DFID's support to Bangladesh is set out in its Country Assistance Plan (CAP) which, in line with the Government of Bangladesh's Poverty Reductions Strategy Paper, seeks to poverty and address the MDGs through a programme promoting growth, better governance and human development emphasizing the multi dimensional nature of poverty and its particular relevance to women and girls.
