 | Report Broken URL |  |  | Bangladesh Youth Movement BYM |  |  | | |  | The Bangladesh Youth Movement (BYM) was originated during the late 1960's as an informal group being concerned primarily with drama, camping and football activities. The preparatory work for the creation of a formal BYM in Tower Hamlets was started in 1976 by a number of young activists led by Mr Shajahan Lutfur and Mr Peter East (Youth Worker). They were later joined by youth workers Caroline Adams, John Newbiggin, Dan Jones, Pat Topely and Mike Thomas and started the following activities: community work and cultural & educational exchanges primarily for the youth. BMY was thus established as the first self-help group in the Bangladesh community here in Tower Hamlets.
